Why come from Castelldefels
Más de 200 alumnos eligen Ryutai Viladecans cada semana. Aquí está el por qué.
You'll learn from instructors who have competed professionally
Ryutai is part of the prestigious Team Calderón, with instructors who have competed at national and international level in BJJ and grappling. Our team includes certified black belts and members of the Catalan national team, something hard to find in generalist gyms in the coastal area. The difference shows from the first class. It's not just about learning basic techniques, but understanding jiu-jitsu from a professional perspective. The teaching methodology is structured by progressive levels, from fundamentals to advanced competition techniques. Our instructors have real experience on the competition mat: they know the details that make the difference between executing a technique correctly or failing at the critical moment.
You'll train in facilities designed specifically for BJJ
Ryutai II, our location at C del Sol 64 in Viladecans, is designed specifically for grappling martial arts. We have more than 150 square meters of certified tatami, the same type used in official BJJ competitions. This prevents injuries and allows practicing projection and transition techniques safely. Equipment includes grappling dummies, gis of different sizes available, and complementary strength area. Monday to Friday from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM schedules are designed for working people. From Castelldefels you arrive in 15 minutes, a reasonable distance to access professional facilities you won't find in the beach area.
You'll join an active community of serious practitioners
At Ryutai we have more than 200 active students, with a strong core of grappling practitioners who come from Castelldefels, Gavà, Sant Boi, El Prat and all over Baix Llobregat. You'll always have training partners of your level and similar goals. The atmosphere is family-friendly but serious. Most of our students are working people between 25 and 45 years old looking for a complete sport and a community to socialize in. Many Castelldefels students have formed groups to carpool. BJJ creates strong bonds, and our community is proof of that. For coastal athletes used to surfing, paddle or running, jiu-jitsu offers a perfect complement of functional strength and flexibility.

Historias reales de personas que entrenan en Ryutai
I've been coming from Castelldefels for two years and I've never considered changing gyms. At first I thought the 15 minute drive would be a problem, but when you see the teaching level and the quality of training partners, you realize it's totally worth it. I've tried places closer to the beach, but the difference is huge. Here the Team Calderón instructors really know BJJ, they've competed, and they correct details that other places don't even mention. I combine surfing on weekends with jiu-jitsu during the week. It's the best thing I've done for my physical and mental health.
My son Marc started training BJJ at Ryutai two years ago when he was 11. As a mother, what mattered most was finding professional instructors who knew how to work with children, and here we found them. He's not only improved technically, but has gained discipline, respect and self-confidence. The 15 minute drive from Castelldefels has never been a problem, in fact we use the trip to talk. What I value most is that they treat BJJ seriously but adapted to children. Now Marc competes in children's tournaments.
I started at Ryutai a year ago looking for a way to get fit different from the typical gym. BJJ has exceeded all my expectations. I've lost 11 kilos, gained real functional strength, and found a sport I'm passionate about. Coming from Castelldefels is easy, in 15 minutes I'm changing. The afternoon schedules are perfect for after work. The atmosphere is great, there are people of all levels and no one judges you if you're a beginner. The Team Calderón instructors are first class.
