Why come from Sant Boi
Más de 200 alumnos eligen Ryutai Viladecans cada semana. Aquí está el por qué.
You'll learn from instructors who have competed professionally
Ryutai is part of the prestigious Team Calderon, with instructors who have competed at national and international level in BJJ and grappling. Our team includes certified black belts and members of the Catalan national team, something difficult to find in general gyms in the area. The difference is noticeable from the first class. It's not just about learning basic techniques, but understanding jiu-jitsu from a professional and competitive perspective, even if your goal is simply to get in shape. The teaching methodology is structured by progressive levels, from fundamentals to advanced competition techniques. Our instructors have real experience on the competition tatami. This means they not only know the techniques theoretically, but have applied them under real pressure. That experience translates into more effective teaching, where you'll learn the details that make the difference between executing a technique correctly or failing at the critical moment. Additionally, being part of Team Calderon, our students have access to seminars with international visitors, intensive training camps, and the opportunity to compete representing a team with recognized prestige throughout Catalonia. This creates learning opportunities that go beyond regular classes.
You'll train in facilities designed specifically for BJJ
Ryutai II, our location at C del Sol 64 in Viladecans, is designed specifically for grappling martial arts. We have over 150 square meters of certified tatami, the same type used in official BJJ competitions. This is not a minor detail: training on the proper surface prevents injuries and allows you to safely practice projection and transition techniques. The equipment includes grappling dummies for practicing chokes and controls, belts and gis in different sizes available to try before buying, and a complementary strength area to work on BJJ-specific physical preparation. All equipment is maintained in optimal condition and renewed periodically. The schedules are designed for working people. Monday through Friday we're open from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM, allowing you to come after work without rushing. Saturdays we train from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, ideal for longer sparring and technique sessions. This range of hours is difficult to find in smaller gyms. Moreover, being specialized in contact martial arts and not being a general multipurpose gym, all infrastructure is optimized for what you really need: space to roll, training partners of different levels always available, and an environment where BJJ is the priority, not a secondary activity among weight machines.
You'll integrate into an active community of serious practitioners
Training BJJ is not just a technical matter, it's also about finding the right environment. At Ryutai we have over 200 active students, with a strong core of grappling practitioners who come from Sant Boi, Gava, El Prat, Castelldefels, and throughout the Baix Llobregat region. This means you'll always have training partners of your level with similar goals. The atmosphere is family-friendly but serious. It's not an intimidating gym where only elite competitors train, but it's also not a place where people come to hang out without commitment. Most of our students are working people between 25 and 45 years old looking for a complete sport, practical self-defense, and a community to socialize outside of work. Many of our Sant Boi students have formed informal groups to carpool and make the trip together. This turns the journey into part of the social experience of training. Additionally, coming from outside Viladecans generates a special sense of belonging: you make the effort to travel because you truly value what you find here. The results speak for themselves. We have students who have gone from zero experience to competing in regional tournaments in less than two years, others who have lost more than 15 kilos while gaining functional strength and confidence, and parents who brought their children and ended up training themselves. BJJ creates strong bonds, and our community is proof of that.

Historias reales de personas que entrenan en Ryutai
I've been coming from Sant Boi for three years and I've never considered changing gyms. At first I thought the 10-minute drive would be a problem, but when you see the level of instruction and the quality of training partners, you realize it's totally worth it. I've tried other places closer to home, but the difference is massive. Here the instructors really know BJJ, they've competed, and they correct details that other places don't even mention. Plus, the afternoon schedule is perfect for me to come after work. Now I come four days a week and it's the best thing I've done for my physical and mental health.
My son Adria started training BJJ at Ryutai three years ago when he was 9. As a mother, what mattered most to me was finding professional instructors who knew how to work with children, and we found that here. Not only has he improved tremendously technically, but he's gained discipline, respect, and self-confidence. The 10-minute drive from Sant Boi has never been a problem, in fact we use the trip to talk about how his day went. What I value most is that they treat BJJ with seriousness but adapted for children, it's not a sports daycare. Now Adria competes in children's tournaments and we're delighted with his progress.
I started at Ryutai a year and a half ago looking for a way to get in shape that wasn't the typical machine gym. BJJ has exceeded all my expectations. I've lost 12 kilos, I've gained real functional strength, and most importantly, I've found a sport that I'm passionate about and that disconnects me from work stress. Coming from Sant Boi is super easy, I take the C-245 and in 10 minutes I'm changing. The afternoon hours are perfect, I leave work at 6:00 PM and I arrive fine for the 7:00 PM class. The atmosphere is great, there are people of all levels and nobody judges you if you're a beginner. Totally recommended.
