Why Ryutai Viladecans Location Is Ideal for K1 Training

When looking for a martial arts gym, location is almost as important as training quality. You could have the world's best instructors, but if getting to the gym takes you an hour and a half on public transport, the reality is you'll eventually stop going. Consistency is the key in any combat sport, and consistency is only possible when access is easy.

Ryutai Viladecans is strategically located at Carrer de Miguel Hernández, 22, in the heart of Baix Llobregat. This location isn't accidental. After training over 200 students since 2016, we know exactly where our community comes from: Viladecans, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Gavà, El Prat de Llobregat, and even professionals who work near Barcelona Airport and take advantage of training K1 before or after their work shift.

The majority of our active students live or work less than 15 minutes from the gym. This proximity makes the difference between training 1-2 times per week (insufficient to see real results) and training 3-4 times per week (where true physical and technical transformation happens). If you live in any of these Baix Llobregat areas, Ryutai isn't just accessible, it's convenient.

But accessibility isn't just about physical distance. It's about schedule flexibility, transport options, parking availability, and how all this fits into your daily life. In this detailed guide, we'll cover exactly how to get to Ryutai from each main area, how long it will take you, what transport options you have, and how to synchronise your K1 training with your work or study schedules.

From Barcelona Airport: 15 Minutes by Car

Barcelona El Prat Airport - quick access to Ryutai Viladecans 15 minutes Just 15 minutes from Barcelona Airport to Ryutai (8 km via C-31)

Barcelona Airport - El Prat is surprisingly close to Ryutai Viladecans, only 8 kilometres by road. This proximity has made our gym a popular option for several specific student profiles:

Professionals working at the airport: Pilots, cabin crew, handling staff, shop and restaurant workers. Many take advantage of training before or after their shifts. A shift ending at 3:00 PM leaves perfect time for our K1 class at 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM.

Workers from companies in the Free Trade Zone: The industrial area near the airport houses hundreds of companies. Many workers pass through Viladecans on their way home and train at Ryutai before arriving at Sant Boi, Gavà or Castelldefels.

Frequent travellers: Professionals who travel constantly but want to maintain a training routine when in Barcelona. We've had students who train K1 with us between connections or the day before a flight.

Car route from the airport:

Fastest option (15 minutes, 8 km):

  1. Exit the airport following signs to C-31 / Castelldefels / Barcelona
  2. Join C-31 direction Castelldefels / Sitges

From Sant Boi de Llobregat: 10 Minutes by Public Transport

Sant Boi de Llobregat is one of Ryutai's largest sources of students. The proximity is excellent, and public transport connections are frequent and direct. If you live in Sant Boi and are considering training K1, logistics won't be a problem.

Public transport from Sant Boi:

Bicycle from Sant Boi:

The distance (5 km) is perfect for cycling, especially in spring and summer:

  • Duration: 15-20 minutes on regular bike, 10-12 minutes on electric
  • Route: Bike lane exists for much of the route via C-245
  • Advantage: Double workout, you arrive already warmed up for K1 class
  • Advice: Bring lock, there's area to secure bikes near the gym

Several of our regular Sant Boi students come by bike when weather permits. It's an excellent way to add 30-40 minutes of light cardio to your training day.

From Gavà: 10 Minutes by Road or Public Transport

Gavà is another important source of students for Ryutai. Proximity is excellent, and connections are direct both by public transport and car.

Public transport from Gavà:

Line L95 - Direct connection with Viladecans

  • Advantage: Connects Gavà Mar area with Viladecans
  • Frequency: Every 20-30 minutes

Car route from Gavà:

From Gavà Centre (8 minutes, 4 km):

  2. Take C-245 direction Viladecans
  3. Continue 3 km on C-245
  4. Take exit towards Viladecans Centre

  1. From the seafront, head inland via Av. de Castelldefels
  2. Connect with C-245 direction Viladecans
  3. Follow same instructions as from Gavà Centre

Parking: No problems. Quiet residential area with available spaces during class hours.

Tips for Gavà students:

Many Gavà students have specific routines that work well:

Combination with work schedules: If you work in Barcelona and return by R2 train to Gavà, you can get off one stop earlier at Viladecans and walk 10 minutes to Ryutai, train, and then return to Gavà on L95. Total extra time: only 15 minutes compared to going straight home.

Training after the beach: In summer, several Gavà Mar students train in the afternoon after spending the morning at the beach. The combination of swimming in the morning and K1 in the afternoon is exceptional for overall fitness.

Carpooling groups: We have several groups of Gavà students who organise to share cars, especially for evening classes. This reduces costs and makes the journey more social.

From El Prat de Llobregat: 12 Minutes Direct

El Prat de Llobregat is very close to Viladecans, and many airport workers who live in El Prat take advantage of Ryutai's proximity.

Public transport from El Prat:

Line L77 - Direct connection

L77 connects El Prat with Viladecans efficiently:

  • Origin: Main stops in El Prat: "El Prat Centre", "Av. Verge de Montserrat", "Plaça Catalunya El Prat"
  • Destination: "Viladecans - Miguel Hernández" or "Viladecans Centre"
  • Duration: 10-12 minutes
  • Frequency: Every 20-30 minutes
  • Schedule: 6:30 first bus, 23:00 last bus
  • Price: €2.55, included in TMB integrated tickets

Alternative by train + bus:

If you're near El Prat train station:

  1. Take R2 Nord to Viladecans (3 minutes, 1 stop)
  2. From Viladecans station, walk 12 minutes to Ryutai
  3. Or take local bus L95/L46 (5 more minutes)

This option is quick if your starting point is near the train station.

Car route from El Prat:

Most direct route (10 minutes, 5 km):

  1. From El Prat centre, take C-245 direction Viladecans
  2. Continue on C-245 approximately 4 km
  3. Take exit towards Viladecans Centre
  4. Turn onto Carrer de Miguel Hernández
  5. Ryutai is at number 22

Alternative via motorway (12 minutes):

If coming from the airport area:

  1. Take C-31 direction Castelldefels
  2. Exit towards Viladecans
  3. Follow signs to Viladecans centre
  4. Carrer de Miguel Hernández, 22

Typical profile of El Prat students:

Many of our El Prat students work at the airport or in companies in the area. Their typical routines:

Morning shifts: Work 6:00-14:00, train at Ryutai at 18:00 or 19:00. This gives them time to eat, rest, and get to the gym.

Afternoon shifts: Work 14:00-22:00, train in our 7:00 or 9:00 morning class. Training before work generates energy for the whole day.

Rotating shifts: Adjust according to their calendar. Ryutai's schedule flexibility (classes from 7:00 to 22:00 Monday to Friday) allows that even with variable shifts you find moments to train.

Parking at Ryutai I: Where and When to Park

Parking availability can make or break the experience of going to a gym. If every time you arrive you have to drive around 15 times looking for a spot, eventually you'll stop going. Fortunately, this isn't the case with Ryutai.

Parking options:

Street parking (free):

Carrer de Miguel Hernández and adjacent streets have free street parking. The area is residential, but during class hours (when many residents are working or inside their homes), finding a spot isn't a problem.

Best availability by schedule:

  • Mornings (7:00-9:00): Excellent. Many residents have already left for work.
  • Midday (12:00-14:00): Good. Less general demand.
  • Afternoon (18:00-20:00): Moderate. May require searching 2-3 minutes, but there's always something.
  • Evening (20:00-22:00): Good. Most residents are already home, no car movement.

Recommended nearby streets:

If Carrer de Miguel Hernández is full (rare, but can happen):

  • Carrer de Antonio Machado (1 minute walk)
  • Carrer de Federico García Lorca (2 minutes walk)
  • Av. de la Generalitat (3 minutes walk, more available spaces)

Advice from regular students: Arrive 5-10 minutes before class. This gives you time to park without stress, change calmly, and start mental warm-up. Students who arrive just in time tend to be more stressed and don't perform as well in class.

For bicycle or motorcycle users:

Bicycles: There's area to secure your bike safely near the gym. Several regular students come by bike and have never reported problems.

Motorcycles and scooters: Specific motorcycle parking available on the street. Viladecans is a safe area, but we always recommend using disc lock or chain as standard precaution.

Optimised Schedules: Synchronise Your Training With Your Life

The reality is that most people can't completely reorganise their life around the gym. You have work, family, commitments. The gym needs to fit into your life, not the other way around. That's why Ryutai offers a wide range of schedules designed specifically for different life profiles.

Ryutai I Schedule (Kick Boxing and K1):

Monday to Friday: 7:00 - 22:00 Saturdays: 9:00 - 14:00 Sundays: Closed (recovery day)

Student profiles and their typical schedules:

Professionals working 9:00-18:00:

Class at 19:00 or 20:00 is perfect. You leave work, get home to Sant Boi/Gavà, change, and go to the gym. Train 19:00-20:00 or 20:00-21:00, and still have time to eat dinner calmly and rest.

Advantage: Training after work is an exceptional way to release accumulated stress from the day. Many students comment they sleep much better when they train in the afternoon-evening.

Professionals with morning shifts (6:00-14:00):

Class at 18:00 or 19:00 after your shift gives you time to eat, rest 1-2 hours, and train with energy. Or if you prefer to take advantage of the rest of the free afternoon, you can train at 16:00-17:00 (schedules available some days).

Professionals with afternoon shifts (14:00-22:00):

Class at 7:00, 8:00 or 9:00 in the morning. Training before work may seem tough at first, but it generates incredible energy for the whole day. Many students with afternoon shifts are fanatics of morning training because they leave the gym with endorphins at full.

Additional advantage: The gym is less crowded in the morning, which means more personalised attention from the instructor and more space to train.

Students:

Depending on your university or school schedule, you have multiple options. Many students train at midday (12:00-13:00) between classes, or in the afternoon after finishing (18:00-19:00).

Workers with flexible schedules or working from home:

You have the most flexibility. Many students who work from home take advantage of training at midday (lunch break + training), which perfectly breaks up the day and increases productivity for the afternoon.

Parents:

Many mothers and fathers train while children are at school (10:00-12:00) or after dropping them at extracurricular activities (18:00-19:00). Some bring their children to train too (we have classes for children and adolescents at compatible times).

Weekend classes:

Saturdays 9:00-14:00: Popular for those who can't train during the week or want to add an extra session. Saturday morning class has a special atmosphere, more relaxed, with time to work technique in more detail.

Many students do 3 classes during the week + 1 on Saturday = 4 weekly sessions, which is the optimal point for accelerated progress in K1.

Two Locations: Ryutai I vs Ryutai II

It's important to understand that Ryutai has two locations in Viladecans, each specialised in different disciplines. This can cause initial confusion, so let's clarify:

Ryutai I - Main Location (Kick Boxing and K1):

Address: Carrer de Miguel Hernández, 22, 08840 Viladecans

Disciplines:

  • Kick Boxing (all levels)
  • K1 (Japanese style with knees)

Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 7:00-22:00
  • Saturdays: 9:00-14:00

Features:

  • Large main room with bags of different sizes
  • Training ring
  • Stretching area
  • Separate changing rooms with showers
  • Complete equipment included for beginners

Access: This is the location described in this guide. All transport directions we've given lead you here.

Ryutai II - MMA & BJJ Location:

Address: Ryutai II - MMA & BJJ Location

C/del Sol, 64, 08840 Viladecans

**5 minutes** by car from Ryutai I

  • Sports: MMA, BJJ, Grappling, Boxing
  • Hours: Mon-Fri **17:00-22:30**, Sat **10:00-14:00**
  • Features: Complete tatami, specialised BJJ equipment

View on Google Maps →

When to train here: If in addition to K1 you're interested in complementing with BJJ (many students do), or if you want to train boxing specifically, this is your location.

Students who train at both locations:

Many of our most dedicated students train at both Ryutai I and Ryutai II. A typical combination:

  • Monday and Wednesday: K1 at Ryutai I (striking, punches, kicks)
  • Tuesday and Thursday: BJJ at Ryutai II (ground work, submissions)
  • Friday or Saturday: Additional K1 session or sparring

This combination develops a complete MMA game: standing (strikes) and ground (floor). If you've ever considered competing in amateur MMA, this is the progression we recommend.

Best Schedules to Avoid Traffic and Optimise Your Time

If you come by car from Sant Boi, Gavà, El Prat or the airport, traffic can vary significantly depending on the time. Here's the detailed analysis based on hundreds of students' experience over years:

Traffic by time slots:

7:00-9:00 (Early morning):

  • Traffic towards Viladecans: Light. Most traffic goes in THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION (towards Barcelona/airport).
  • Time from Sant Boi: 7 minutes
  • Time from Gavà: 8 minutes
  • Time from El Prat: 10 minutes
  • Recommendation: Excellent time if your schedule allows. You arrive quickly, gym less crowded, more personalised attention.

9:00-12:00 (Mid-morning):

  • Traffic: Minimal. Off-peak hours.
  • Time from all locations: Optimal standard time
  • Recommendation: Ideal for those with schedule flexibility or work from home.

12:00-14:00 (Midday):

  • Traffic: Light to moderate. Some movement during lunch break.
  • Time: +2-3 minutes over base time
  • Recommendation: Good time, especially if you combine training with lunch break.

14:00-17:00 (Early afternoon):

  • Traffic: Light. Very quiet time.
  • Time: Optimal standard time
  • Recommendation: If you work shifts and can train at these hours, take advantage. Fewer people, better atmosphere for learning.

17:00-20:00 (Afternoon rush hour):

  • Traffic: Moderate to heavy. Everyone returning from work.
  • Time from Sant Boi: 12-15 minutes (instead of 7)
  • Time from Gavà: 15-18 minutes (instead of 8)
  • Time from El Prat: 15-18 minutes (instead of 10)
  • Recommendation: Leave with 5-10 extra minutes margin. Consider alternative routes if you know the area.

Rush hour trick: If you leave Barcelona towards Viladecans at 18:00, you're going in the opposite direction to main traffic (which goes TOWARDS Barcelona). This means that although there's general traffic, your direction is usually smoother.

20:00-22:00 (Evening):

  • Traffic: Light. Rush hour traffic has already passed.
  • Time: Standard time or slightly better
  • Recommendation: Good time to train if your work schedule is late or you prefer to do things during the day and train at night.

Alternative routes to avoid jams:

If you come via C-245 and there's congestion (accident, roadworks, etc.), alternative routes:

From Sant Boi: You can go through local streets via Can Paulet. Adds 3-4 minutes but avoids C-245.

From Gavà: Alternative route through residential streets parallel to C-245. Slightly longer but without main road traffic lights.

From El Prat: You can use C-31 and then local streets. Similar time but different route.

Several students who come daily have developed their own "secret" routes that avoid typical congestion points. Once you train regularly, you'll discover yours.

For Travellers and Visitors: Drop-In Training

Not all our students are permanent locals. We regularly receive:

Professionals travelling to Barcelona for work: If you're in the city for a week for meetings or a project, you can train with us. Many martial arts professionals look for gyms to train at when travelling, and Ryutai welcomes K1/Kick Boxing practitioners from all over Spain and Europe.

Competitors visiting the area: If you come for a competition in Barcelona or surroundings and need to maintain your training, we offer drop-in sessions. Our Team Calderón instructors (with experience in Catalan selection) can offer level sparring for competitors.

Temporary residents: If you're in Viladecans, Sant Boi, Gavà or El Prat for temporary work (3-6 months), you can train without permanence commitment. We've had temporary students from airport projects or Free Trade Zone companies who train while in the area.

How drop-in works:

Booking: Call us at +34 677 71 47 99 or write to info.ryutai@gmail.com indicating:

  • Your experience in K1/Kick Boxing/martial arts
  • What days you want to train
  • If you need equipment (we can lend gloves, shin guards for first sessions)

Price: Individual drop-in or short packages available. Ask about options according to your length of stay.

Level: We accept all levels, from complete beginners to experienced competitors. Our classes are structured so everyone works at their level.

Language: Classes mainly in Spanish, but many instructors speak Catalan and English. If you don't speak Spanish, it's not a problem for combat technique (lots of visual demonstration).

Visitor testimonials:

We've had temporary students from France, Italy, UK, and other parts of Spain who have trained at Ryutai during short stays. Many comment that the family atmosphere and technical quality exceeded their expectations, and several stay in touch with the Ryutai community even after returning to their cities.

Nearby Amenities: More Than Just a Gym

The location of Ryutai I at Carrer de Miguel Hernández isn't just convenient for access, but for everything around. Many students take advantage of doing other things before or after training:

Cafés and restaurants (5 minutes walk):

For before training:

If you arrive 30 minutes before class and want to have a coffee or check emails:

  • Cafés at Av. de la Generalitat (3 minutes walk)
  • Bar and café area in Viladecans centre (5-7 minutes walk)

Many students who come directly from work stop to have a quick coffee or prepare their bag before class.

For after training:

After an intense K1 session, some students (especially the more social gym members) go to:

  • Casual dining restaurants in Viladecans centre
  • Pizzerias and healthy fast food (grilled chicken, salads, wraps)
  • Tapas bars for those who train in groups and have social dinner afterwards

It's not mandatory, but the Ryutai community is very social. Many friendships are formed not only on the mat, but in post-training beers where techniques are discussed, sparring is reviewed, and bonds are created.

Supermarkets (quick post-training shopping):

Mercadona, Lidl, Carrefour: All 5-10 minutes by car. Many students take advantage of the trip to do quick shopping after class. You've just trained, you're motivated, it's the best time to buy healthy food (fewer temptations for processed foods when you have training endorphins).

Pharmacy and services:

Pharmacies: Several in Viladecans centre. Useful if you need something for recovery (magnesium, creams for contractures, bandages).

Physiotherapy: There are physiotherapy centres nearby. Some Ryutai students go regularly for sports massages or treatment of small discomforts. K1 is demanding, and taking care of the body with preventive physio is smart.

Parks and open spaces:

Parc de la Riera: 10 minutes walk. Some students who arrive very early do a preliminary warm-up walking or jogging gently through the park before class. Others cool down walking through the park after class. Fresh air post-training helps lower heart rate gradually.

For families:

Schools and nurseries: Several students drop their children at nearby extracurricular activities and take advantage of training while the kids are busy. Perfect timing: drop the child at 18:00 for football/English/whatever, train 18:00-19:00, pick up the child at 19:00. Maximum time optimisation.

Some students bring their children to train too. We have K1 classes for children and adolescents, and it's not uncommon to see parents and children training at consecutive times or even together in special family classes.

Why Viladecans Is the Perfect Location for Baix Llobregat

Viladecans isn't Barcelona, and that's exactly its advantage. When you train in Barcelona centre, you face:

  • Heavy traffic to get there
  • Very expensive or non-existent parking
  • Overcrowded gyms
  • Inflated prices
  • Less personal atmosphere

Viladecans offers the opposite: real accessibility, free parking, family atmosphere, fair prices, and most importantly, a real community. Our 200+ students aren't anonymous numbers in a Barcelona mega-gym, they're people with names, stories, goals, and progress that Team Calderón instructors follow personally.

For Baix Llobregat residents (Sant Boi, Gavà, El Prat, Castelldefels, Sant Climent), Viladecans is in the perfect geographical centre. You're maximum 10-15 minutes from any of these localities. You don't need to travel to Barcelona to find quality K1 training. You have it in your metropolitan area, with certified instructors, some with experience in Catalan martial arts selection.

Additionally, training near home has enormous psychological benefit: it eliminates the excuse of "it's too far". When the gym is 10 minutes away, there's no reason not to go. This elimination of mental friction is crucial for maintaining long-term consistency.

Schedule Flexibility for Commuters

If you work in Barcelona but live in Baix Llobregat, you have interesting options:

Option 1: Train in Viladecans on the way home

Leave Barcelona at 18:00, arrive at Viladecans train station at 18:30. Instead of going straight to Sant Boi/Gavà, get off at Viladecans, train 19:00-20:00, and then take the bus home. Total extra time: 20 minutes compared to going straight home. But you gain 60 minutes of quality training.

Option 2: Train before going to Barcelona

If your work schedule allows (flexible entry), train 7:00-8:00 in the morning, shower, and take the train to Barcelona. You arrive in Barcelona at 9:00-9:30, fresh, with endorphins, and ready for a productive day. Many students comment that their most productive work days are the days they train in the morning.

Option 3: Work from Viladecans + train

If you have remote work flexibility, consider working 1-2 days per week from a café or coworking space in Viladecans. Work in the morning near Ryutai, train at midday or afternoon, and save all the commute time to Barcelona. This is a strategy several students with remote work use with great success.

By email: Write to info.ryutai@gmail.com indicating:

  • Your name
  • Previous martial arts experience (if any)
  • Times that suit you (morning, afternoon, evening)
  • Any questions you have

By Instagram: Send a DM to @ryutai_viladecans. We respond quickly and can resolve doubts via messages before you come.

Direct visit: If you prefer a more spontaneous approach, you can drop by the gym at Carrer de Miguel Hernández, 22, during class hours (Mon-Fri 7:00-22:00, Sat 9:00-14:00). Talk to reception or any instructor. We'll give you a quick tour of the gym and integrate you into the next class if you want to try immediately.

What to bring for your first class:

Sports clothes: Shorts or leggings, comfortable t-shirt. Nothing special, what you'd wear for any workout.

Water: Water bottle. K1 is intense, you'll rehydrate.

Towel: For sweat. You'll sweat quite a bit.

Optional - Wraps and gloves: If you have them, bring them. If you don't, we can lend you for the first class. If you decide to continue training, we'll recommend what equipment to buy (and where to buy it at the best price).

Willingness to learn: Most important. You don't need to be in perfect shape, you don't need previous experience, you just need an open attitude and willingness to make an effort.

What to expect in your first class:

The first class can be intimidating. That's normal. We've all been through it. But our instructors understand perfectly how it feels to be new, and the structure is designed to make you feel comfortable:

Arrival (10 min before): Come 10 minutes before start time. We'll give you a quick tour of the gym, show you the changing rooms, and explain how the class works.

Warm-up (10 min): We start with joint mobility and light cardio. This allows your body to prepare and you to relax mentally.

Basic technique (20 min): We teach or review fundamental K1 techniques. As you're new, an instructor will work with you individually to teach you basic guard, jab, cross, and front kick. Nothing complicated, just fundamentals.

Practice (20 min): You'll apply what you've learned with an experienced partner who will guide you. It's not contact sparring, it's technical practice with control.

Conditioning (10 min): Functional exercises to improve fitness: sit-ups, push-ups, leg exercises. Adapted to your level.

Cool-down (5 min): Stretching and relaxation. Time to ask questions and socialise with other students.

After that first class, you'll have a clear idea of:

  • Whether K1 is for you physically
  • Whether you like Ryutai's atmosphere
  • What level of demand it has (adaptable to your ability)
  • What results you could obtain with regular training

Most new students leave the first class tired, sweaty, and with a huge smile. There's something deeply satisfying about learning to punch and kick correctly, working your body in a new way, and being surrounded by people who encourage you.

Conclusion: Accessibility Makes Consistency, Consistency Makes Results

You can have the world's best instructors, the best equipment, the best training programme. But if getting to the gym is a pain, you won't go consistently. And without consistency, there are no results.

Ryutai Viladecans is strategically located to be accessible from all of Baix Llobregat: Sant Boi, Gavà, El Prat, and of course Viladecans itself. Whether you come by car (10-15 minutes from any point), public transport (lines L46, L95, L77 with frequencies of 10-20 minutes), or even bicycle (15-20 minutes from Sant Boi or Gavà), getting there is easy.

This ease of access translates directly into better results for our students. When the gym is 10 minutes from your home or work, training 3-4 times per week isn't a heroic sacrifice, it's simply part of your routine. And that routine is what transforms your body, your technique, and your confidence in 3, 6, 12 months of constant training.

Since 2016, we've seen over 200 students progress from complete beginners to competent K1 practitioners, many losing weight, gaining strength, improving their cardiovascular health, and developing real self-defence skills. The accessible location has been a key factor in those results.

If you're considering training K1, if you want a professional but accessible gym, if you value family atmosphere and quality instruction over the impersonal mega-gym, Ryutai Viladecans is your place.

Call us at +34 677 71 47 99, write to us at info.ryutai@gmail.com, or simply drop by Carrer de Miguel Hernández, 22. Your first class is free, and your journey towards better fitness, real combat technique, and a supportive community starts with that first step.

We look forward to seeing you on the mat.
